Michigan may estimate the potential effect of Hard Rock in the Great Lakes State using the new revenue reporting format used by New Jersey.

As one of the few states that discloses online casino income by operator, New Jersey has joined Michigan in this regard. New Jersey is compared to the Michigan online casino market as they both trail PA, the largest US iGaming market, by a small margin.

Following its acquisition of the US assets of 888 Holdings, Hard Rock has positioned itself to enter the Michigan market.

In light of New Jersey’s revenue report, what benefits may Hard Rock provide Michigan?

Hard Rock isn’t affiliated with BetMGM, DraftKings, or FanDuel. It is a capable operator, nevertheless, and should do well in the Great Lakes State.

It was recently revealed by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement that it would begin reporting revenue per operator this month and will also include data from January and February.

Since Hard Rock operates an online casino in the Garden State, it is simple to evaluate its success. The operator was slightly outside the top five in revenue for each of the first three months. But every month, it got better:

  • $7.9 million in January
  • $8.8 million in February
  • $9 million in March

Hard Rock came in last place, behind the industry giants FanDuel, DraftKings, and BetMGM. Caesars and Borgata completed the Garden State’s top five.

Although there’s no guilt in supporting those five operators, Hard Rock generated more income than reputable sites like Golden Nugget and BetRivers, both of which are based in Michigan.

The fact that Hard Rock has a physical casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, helps the Garden State’s overall online revenue figures.

In March, revenue from Michigan’s online casino business reached a state record of $2155.2 million.

With the acquisition of 888, whose platform Sports Illustrated indicated it was leaving the state, Hard Rock would undoubtedly strengthen the state’s online casino industry.
