The Michigan Online Casino and Sportsbook License of WynnBET is Acquired by Caesars

WynnBET is planning to depart from the state of Michigan. It was revealed on February 20 that Caesars Entertainment, which operates Caesars Palace MI Online Casino, has consented to purchase WynnBET’s iGaming and sports betting license in the state.
With this change, Caesars will have access to the WynnBET Michigan Online Casino license that the tribal MI gambling venues, Kewadin Casinos, are owned and operated by, the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
Wynn also stated that the sportsbook license is also included in the transaction.
The Michigan Gaming Control Board has not yet given its regulatory clearance to this arrangement. The company said during its Q4 conference call that before the end of 2024, Caesars plans to introduce the new iGaming platform in Michigan.
Caesars Acquires a Second License for an Online Casino
Through the agreement, Caesars has access to the iGaming skins of the Sault Tribe, allowing Caesars to run more digital brands in Michigan.
Current WynnBET clients will be transferred to Caesars’ Michigan iGaming platform upon Caesars’ acquisition of the business. So, avid players of legal MI casinos online have nothing to worry about when it comes to their existing accounts.
Caesars Entertainment’s SVP and Chief iGaming Officer, Matt Sunderland, stated in a press release that the company is expanding its iGaming franchise and that the acquisition of WynnBET’s iGaming operations in Michigan gives it access to a sizable market and customer base. This is a critical step in expanding the company’s digital products and giving players more ways to play.
He added that working with the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians is an honor for the company, and it is exciting to expand in Michigan with their help.
The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians has previously granted Caesars the right to operate an online casino in Michigan, that being Turtle Creek Casino.
