Sports Illustrated Sportsbook Launches in the Michigan Market

The Sports Illustrated Sportsbook is now operational in Michigan. According to a news release, the Michigan Gaming Control Board has approved 888 Holdings as the new MI online sportsbook platform provider for the Hannahville Indian Community, which will run under the Sports Illustrated brand.

According to the MGCB announcement, the agreement makes 888 Holdings the new platform provider beginning on September 7, 2022. Sports Illustrated replaced TwinSpires that has recently left the state’s market.

The Island Resort and Casino near Harris, Michigan is run by the Hannahville tribe. The Hannahville Indian Community was one of the ten licensees first given permission to introduce both types of online gambling in Michigan.

An arrangement with 888 Holdings resulted from TwinSpires, the original platform supplier for the Hannahville tribe, announcing its intention to leave the industry earlier in 2022. After closing, TwinSpires no longer provides online gambling or sports betting in Michigan.

Michigan’s Sports Betting Market

The state’s revenue increase in July became a new record for Michigan’s industry, going up by 179.6% over June 2022. Virginia and Colorado are two more booming online sports betting markets where Sports Illustrated Sportsbook is now operational.
